Sefar

Itinerary

Day by day

Day 1

Arrival in Djanet

Welcome by the Tuareg team upon your arrival at Djanet airport. Transfer to the first bivouac at the foot of the plateau, where our donkey-handling team awaits us.

Day 2

Ascent of the Akba Tafilalet

We set off for the Tassili plateau. The ascent on foot of the Akba Tafilalet, along a stony path, leads to the magnificent scenery of Tamrit. In the afternoon, we visit the painted caves at Tin Zoumaïtec and stroll through the Tamrit valley, famous for its ancestral cypresses. Bivouac.

Day 3

Tin Aboteka and arrival at Sefar

We head towards the paintings of Tin Aboteka, passing through Tetras n'Alies, where rocky pinnacles seem to reach for the sky. In the late afternoon, we arrive at Sefar. Bivouac.

Day 4

White Sefar and black Sefar

The morning is devoted to visiting white Sefar, a true prehistoric "city" with its "streets". In the afternoon, we continue exploring black Sefar, then head towards Tighessouten. Bivouac.

Day 5

The Rayay canyon

Via the Alarnedoumene plateau, we reach the Rayay canyon, with its centuries-old cypresses, painted caves, and breathtaking landscapes. Bivouac.

Day 6

The site of Djabaren

Heading south, crossing the long stony plateau, towards the In Aouarhed canyon, where we discover new paintings. We arrive at the end of the day at the prestigious site of Djabaren, rich with thousands of paintings from different eras: from the Bubaline to the Bovidian periods, via the Caballine, Round Head and Egyptian periods.

Day 7

Descent and return

After visiting the site of Djabaren, which we leave with regret, we descend via the stony pass of the Akba Aroum to the foot of the plateau, where we find the 4x4 vehicles for a short transfer to Djanet. Airport transfer.

A trek on foot accompanied by a team of donkey handlers, climbing the Tassili n'Ajjer plateau to the sites of Sefar and Djabaren, true open-air museums of Saharan rock art.
